The U.S. men’s national team goalkeeper is expected to return to MLS and join the Colorado Rapids from Everton in the Premier League, according to ESPN. Rapids general manager Tim Hinchey flew to England last week to finalize the deal with Howard and Everton, the report said.

The Rapids hold the top spot in MLS’s allocation order, giving the club the first chance to sign American internationals and former MLS players potentially interested in returning to North America.
Howard, 36, will finish the season with Everton, where he’s played since 2007, and join Colorado during the summer transfer window. He will reportedly make around $2 million annually through 2019, making him the highest-paid keeper in the league.
Howard has appeared for the U.S. 106 times and was part of the national team’s squads at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
