Titans and Doom Patrol are among some of the last DC television shows airing. With the CW-verse coming to an end after The Flash’s final season concludes later this year, several DC projects have been shuttering following Warner Bros. acquisition by Discovery. There appears to be a creative reshuffling going on at Warner Bros. Discovery - even the DC Films division has changed course with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the writers for both Titans and Doom Patrol saw “the writing on the wall” amid the changes at DC, and plotted out the final seasons as proper conclusions to their respective stories. Titans executive producer Greg Walker gave a statement in which he thanked the fans and cast:

Meanwhile, the crew of Doom Patrol, which series star Diane Guerrero hinted was ending earlier this week, also gave a statement courtesy of executive producer and showrunner Jeremy Carver, “To our wonderfully supportive partners at HBO Max, Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and DC Studios, thank you for indulging us these past four seasons. Also, what were you smoking? To our brilliant cast, indomitable crew, fearless writing staff and, most of all, to our beautiful fans: thank you all the more. You made this a once-in-a-lifetime ride.”

There have been some rumblings by fans that Titans could have a future in the new DCU, with Titans star Brenton Thwaites stating he wants to bring Nightwing to the big screen. With Titans ending, that frees up Thwaites’ own commitments to the series, but a cinematic Nightwing may or may not be in the cards. If it does happen, there have been some indications that Gunn would like to start fresh, making Thwaites an unlikely return.

Perhaps some of the Titans and Doom Patrol actors could appear in the new DCU under new roles. Jason Momoa is rumored to be going from Aquaman to Lobo for Gunn’s DC Universe, and if that’s not confusing for audiences, there’s no reason other cast members can’t make the jump to film.

Titans and Doom Patrol will both air their last six episodes later this year on HBO Max,
