Mariota was ruled out of Sunday’s NFL showdown with the Colts as he continues to deal with a nerve condition caused by a stinger, the Titans announced shortly before kick-off.
Backup Titans quarterback Blaine Gabbert will get the start in Mariota’s absence.
Mariota suffered an elbow injury in the first half of Tennessee’s 25-16 win over the Washington Redskins last Saturday.
The 25-year-old was able to practice on a limited basis Thursday and Friday, giving the Titans hope that he could play in the postseason should they advance.
The Titans (9-6) are slated to host the Colts (9-6) in a crucial AFC showdown, with the winner progressing to the playoffs, while the loser’s season will be over.
